I really enjoy living in Berkeley.AverageJournalism
I really enjoy living in Berkeley. Some people say it's "ghetto" (hate that word) and unsafe, but that hasn't been my experience. I enjoy living in Berkeley more than I enjoy attending Cal. If I didn't like the city, my experience here would be miserable.

My major (Media Studies) is an absolute joke. There is no practical application and, even worse, the course material often goes off-track and doesn't even seem to apply to the subject matter, which is frustrating and weird. The faculty ranges from great (Turner) to ridiculous (Levina). If I didn't receive so much financial aid and actually had to pay tuition out of my own pocket, I would be LIVID that I paid for this level of "education". I've heard that other majors are better but, if you are a Media Studies major, proceed with caution.

I am not filling out anything but theNot so bright
I am not filling out anything but the comment section, so I hope it goes through. I wanted to say that living in the Co-ops was really helpful for me in Berkeley. And then afterwards I found great off-campus housing by searching hard for great friendly homes. Finding the right place to live makes a huge difference, and is worth spending a couple weeks on if you have a place to stay in the meantime.

Question
I did well here and will be startingNot so brightEconomics
I did well here and will be starting medical school next year, but I sincerely (severely) regret matriculating. Many students act arrogant and entitled, while the administration is rude, cruel and utterly unaccomodating of anyone.

I trully feel that some of the Berkeley Career Center counseling staff and L&S advisors and major staff (the entire bureaucracy) trully enjoy making the lives of students a living hell and take pleasure in their suffering. I had some teachers here who would put me down and ridicule me for their own enjoyment. However, the education is top-notch. If you work hard here and are willing to learn, you'll come away with a lot.
