Berkeley's chemical engineering program is great! The studenChemical Engineering
Berkeley's chemical engineering program is great! The students are bright and many, however, so you will not get far unless if you show some intitiative. Otherwise, the teachers are superb, the facilities are top notch, and the beautiful bay area location is almost without equal. Of course you got your usual public school bureaucracy action going on and the well-noted observation that Berkeley girls aren't very pretty (for that, go to UCLA). But the education is very, very good. Not all students are the best and brightest, but most are hard working, and the very best are equal to the top students from any other institution. Several of my friends have gone on to MIT and Stanford for PhD programs in chemical engineering. Obviously, no dummies there. But the best thing to do is not to take my word for it. Check it out for yourself! Just don't bet on finding parking easily! :P

I love this place! However, honestly speaking, CalBrightUndecided
I love this place! However, honestly speaking, Cal is not for everyone. You really have to go out there and search for your own academic and social opportunities. If you are shy and unwilling to reach out to others, this is NOT the school for you. I am an intended business major. Most classes for business majors are competitive, but not to the point where people would refuse to help others. Again, help is available, you just have to look for it. Go to office hours and get to know your GSIs and professors will definitely help you. Also, if you want any social life at all, join something. From frats to different clubs, there are plenty of choices. Just don't sit in your dorm and study; that would make you miserable. Cal is what you take you take from it. If you try to be involved in this university, it is truly an exciting place. Don't miss out on the athletic games. We might not have the best teams, but we certainly have the best fans. The school spirit is amazing. Another thing not to miss out on is the city, from museums to various forums, lectures, and cultural events, Berkeley is the best. Cal is not easy, but if you could make it through, you know you have what it take to succeed.

Question
The City of Berkeley.Quite BrightEconomics
The City of Berkeley. bums smell, streets smell, people smell. You can smell pot in the streets, the streets haven't been paved in years. Everyone cares so much about their own achievements and their resume. But in fact, so many people don't matter on this campus.

If you're looking for social life here, it is very minimal besides all the same groups smoking and drinking their lives away. Normal stores (not markets) close at around 6pm, leaving the students in their homes on weekdays.

As for classes, so many of them are insignificantly boring. On a side note, the city operation of berkeley is very poor.

Berkeley could be one of the worst places for drivers with all the one-way streets, many stop signs, unpredictable roadblocks, up and down hills, and the lack of parking for any sort of event. There is actually three respectable things about UC Berkeley, and they are the libraries, faculty, and the Campanile (clock tower). One advice too all of you students looking to attend berkeley, is to STAY AWAY. A pessimestic environment will turn you into a pessimist.
