Got my undergraduate degree in Computer Science fromComputer Science
Got my undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Ball State. Really had a great time there and came out more than prepared for my career. I am now self employed and working on a masters degree and realize how well BSU had prepared me for it, even after 12 years out. Muncie is not a great city, but Ball State's campus itself is beautiful, so don't rule it out because of the surrounding city.

Question
I'm an indiana resident, and i chose toQuite BrightOther
I'm an indiana resident, and i chose to go to ball state to take care of some general education classes before i transfer to another school... here is some advice from my experience so far.

academics:
if you plan on majoring in anything other than architecture or education, don't come here. the telecommunications department is over-crowded and you get no personal attention. professors seem to pay the most attention to the dumbasses who don't know what the hell's going on, and neglect the others. like any other college, the general education classes are a joke. the only good one i've had so far was eng 103, and apparently i was one of the few who enjoyed this non-traditional class (the professor was very intelligent and creative) because most of the people complained about his assignments that involved more than just writing essays. that professor actually left ball state for a better school this year.

social life:
if you aren't into sororities or fraternities, don't come here. it seems like 99% of the students are involved with greek life, and none of them seem to be wanting to make friends outside of their greek circle. for the most part, the people here are just a bunch of snobby girls and guys who like to get "wasted-shwasted" every night and go to their psychology classes the next day to talk about it. take it from me... i'm not in a sorority but i make friends with absolutely anyone, no matter what they're into, and i had a good high school social life. sadly, here at ball state, i've made very, very few friends.

location:
if you don't like living in a trash can, don't come here. there is absolutely nothing to do here unless you're 21+... you can find six or seven bars in the village alone. the cops are lurking around every corner, and you'll probably get towed no matter where you park.

my advice:if you're even a somewhat intelligent, open-minded individual, don't come here. you wouldn't fit in.

I Looove Ball State, the social scene is amazing, parties every night. the campus is very beautiful, and they are adding stuff all the time, the new $21 million dollar David Letterman communications building is amazing. The univeristy is the perfect size, not too big, and not too small, youre not just a number, faculty actually care and try to help you with whatever they can.
