The academics for ArchitectureQuite BrightArchitecture
The academics for Architecture are good, not as good as they could be, but good. Unless you are applying for Architecture or Business, BSU isn't going to look very good on your resume.

Ball State, as any college, is not rightBrightJournalism
Ball State, as any college, is not right for everyone. That said, BSU is a great value for a high quality education in numerous majors. Obviously Muncie is not a mecca for entertainment or cultural opportunities, but anyone who legitimately tries shouldn't have trouble having an enjoyable college experience. I believe that Ball State students are friendlier on average than at most public colleges and also more willing to embrace the differences of others. I think many of the negative reviews on this site represent many student's generally low opinion of BSU while they attend- I think many of us don't gain an adequate understanding of how well we were educated in comparison to other students until we've had a few years to better realize how well we match up to the alums of other comparable schools.

Question
Be sure to research a college that isQuite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
Be sure to research a college that is good for the major you study. If you change your major it is probably a good idea to change to a school with a strong program in that major. I originally went to Ball State to get a degree in Architecture but found that the people in the program were snooty. I switched to Graphic Design/Visual Communications and didn't do my homework. The Graphic Design program is seriously lacking. In the real world people want students that can do web design and print design. At Ball State the focus is on print design and there are few programs in the major that are helpful. The program is too relaxed and the teachers are too far behind the times. You need to be current and have knowledge of InDesign, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, HTML, and the list goes on. Having knowledge of the printing process is also very good. Graphic Design professionals are very competitive. You'll need to do your research and make personal contacts through organizations like AIGA and AdFed to get a job once you graduate.
