I didn't plan on staying at IUN long,BrightUndecided
I didn't plan on staying at IUN long, since they didn't have any of the majors I wanted (music, writing, photography), but I thought it best to try and get some core classes out of the way, it'd be cheaper and I live near the area.

I liked IUN because it was small and easy to get used to. Although the near surrounding area sucks and is scary and gross, if you take the expressway just a couple minutes to Highland, Griffith, Schererville, etc., it's much nicer, and there's malls, stores, restaurants. But if you're expecting a huge nightlife, city life type stuff, you'll be disappointed. However, the campus itself is very safe and I never felt worried being there. Parking was easy if you just get there a few minutes earlier, classes are good sized, and my professors were always willing to help with any problems.

I only went for one semester because I felt like I was wasting time being there. Although it IS cheaper and effective to get the cores out of the way, I didn't really LEARN anything from my classes. Also, having to pay a fee for a couple of things really upset me. I took piano and voice lessons, both in which the quality was quite mediocre. I had to pay extra money for tech fees, but there were NO practice rooms whatsoever in the school. I'm lucky enough to have a keyboard at home, but many students could never practice outside of their lessons. We were constantly getting moved around because our small old building flooded. They wouldn't let students have time slots for the rooms to practice, so it was all a joke and a waste of money.

Flooding is quite a big problem. I missed school for about two weeks because of it. The stench was awful, and they closed the art/theatre building.

The Savannah building is very nice, where I spent most of my time.
If money gets so tight where I am forced to get my core's out of the way before going to another university, I could deal with going back. Also, this isn't a school to look for making tons of friends, as most people going are working adults/moms/dads etc who're just wanting to go and get their educations. Nothing wrong with that, i didn't mind as I wasn't there for the social aspect either. Not to say that people are not friendly.

This school is good for those students who cannot afford going away to an expensive state or out of state school. The education and degree you receive will be of a professional standard. The only drawbacks to the school are its social life and the surrounding city of Gary, Indiana. I personally feel safe on campus and in the near by city. That is my personal opinion and feelings.

I received a quality education and found the coursed that I took to be very challenging. There was no skiring around to obtain your grades. I worked hard and earned very goods grades. The professors in the Computer Information Systems' department were very helpful and wonderful. I will return to IU Northwest to further my education by pursuing my MBA.
