I absolutely love Tulane and so does everyoneBrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
I absolutely love Tulane and so does everyone I know. I have actually had conversations with a number of people on how going here was the best decision we ever made. I'm surprised to read some of the previous entries (tulane girls are in fact very pretty..much better than the guys). The education is great, but it is true that you get what you take from it. It is possible to party every night of the week here in new orleans...and we do..but you aren't going to turn out to be the best student in the world if you do. For the most part even the people who party all the time slow down by their junior year. New Orleans is fantastic, the weather is wonderful (especially if you're from the northeast). It takes a while to adjust no matter where you go, but I will say this: if you are absolutely disgusted by preppy, polo-wearing frat guys and wealthy, designer-clad sorority girls...first, learn to be more accepting of people not as "different and cool" as you..and second, don't come here. We dress up to go out at night, its a southern culture thing. I thinks its a lot of fun and you will to, just let loose a little.

I would personally attend another unviersity if given the chance. The campus is nothing special. In fact it is rather violent with many crimes. The professors are here more for the research than teaching. The student boby is mainly white and snobby. I tried doing research and could not because no one wanted accepted volunteers. Also the premed program sucks. There's not special programs for volunteering, researching, etc. Personally if you are looking for a truely academic place don't go here. The professors are aloof and sometimes i wonder if they even care about their students.

Question
Tulane is an interesting place.Quite BrightPhilosophy
Tulane is an interesting place. The surrounding area and city of New Orleans is amazing and holds unlimited amounts of fun and activities. The school itself is beautiful; the facilities are not bad. The professors and academic program is also satisfactory. There is one problem: the student body. The student body here is comprised of wealthy, closeminded, jewish people. Nearly 30% of the people I encounter fit this stereotype in an exact manner. This school has very few progressive thinkers; it is merely a playground for daddys boys and girls to come for four years and just get by. If you are looking for the true liberal arts style experience, avoid this place.
