I loved my freshmen year at Loyola COllege.AverageFinance
I loved my freshmen year at Loyola COllege. I went to a public high school on the Jersey Shore, Manasquan High School. I did not have to do much work to get A's in high school and I pretty much coasted doing as little work as possible. However, Loyola is a challenge and I could not do the usual coasting act from high school on the premises of Loyola. Teachers were helpful and would always encourage students to utilize their office hours for help. I did get caught up in the party scene of York Rd. and Fells Point for the year and hence came my 2.9 GPA both semesters, a far cry from my A student days at public high school. My advice is, to public high school students is that they need to realize the work ethic instituted at a Catholic or private high school is superior to what I was given at my public school, and you need to buckle down to succeed here. The dorms are great at Loyola overall, however I stayed in a 4 person quad room to save my parents money on room and board. The biggest weakness of Loyola is the library in terms of student resources, its not that the library is poor in selection, but that it is not modern. There are new Freshmen dorms going up as I type this that will be very modern and should attract a lot more students. OVerall I recommend the school, the student body can tend to be preppy in style, but I managed to enjoy myself there and think it will be an excellent school for a dedicated student.

Question
I needed to get away from home aroundQuite BrightComputer Science
I needed to get away from home around the time I was going to college, and Loyola was far enough away where my parents couldn't easily get to me. Not only that, but the city is wonderful once you really get to know it, as there are a ton of things to do. The school can be a bit overbearing with security when you're a freshman, but they're only looking out for you. Don't do anyhting stupid and you won't get in trouble. The rooms are SWEET. Definitely the best in the country. The core is tough, but manageable. As long as you immerse yourself in the school, it will reward you enormously. Just start going to bars the first weekend, meet people in your class, and you'll be friends with everyone and you'll have a great time. Just don't forget to do your homework through that beer haze...

Question
I had a great experience at Loyola.Psychology
I had a great experience at Loyola. The professors were helpful, especially when I was ready to find an internship or job. Sure many of the students come from wealthy backgrounds, but the school is expensive, what do you expect? It's easy to find your niche because classes are small, the dorms are condusive for parties and there's a club/sport for everyone. Partying and drinking is big at Loyola, but you don't have to do it. There's a dorm that's just for people who don't want anything to do with alcohol. Oh, and did I mention that the dorms are awesome? It doesn't even feel like living in a dorm, except that there are a lot of young people around.
