Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I love Loyola a lot of students doQuite BrightCommunications
I love Loyola a lot of students do go out on the weekends to bars and clubs in the area which can get a little expensive. The students and faculty are incredibly friendly, and really do come together to support each other and attend school events such as lacrosse games, relay for life and the fall and spring concerts.

Question
THIS IS AN AWESOME SCHOOL.BrightPsychology
THIS IS AN AWESOME SCHOOL. i love it, although there are a few things to point out:
1) it is VERY VERY expensive. Not only is tuition 50 grand a year, but the cost of having a social life includes that of multiple taxi rides on a weekly basis, as well as money for drinks ( loyola is almost 100% a bar school). as a freshman i believe i spent close to 2 grand on spending alone, which leads to point number 2...

2) YOU MUST HAVE AN ID THAT SAYS YOU ARE 21 OR YOU WILL NOT HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE AT THIS SCHOOL. well, that is in most cases. There are other things to do on campus, but you will not have anywhere near the experience that many loyola students rave about. it is what makes this school fun.

3) The school is fairly boy-heavy.
4) the food is outrageously expensive.sadly, because of the costs, i will be looking at other (cheaper) schools. But if you can afford the place, it is an overall awesome school to go to. all of the negative points i have put here are FAR surpassed by the positives.

Question
Loyola is strong academically, and quite challenging.Quite BrightCommunications
Loyola is strong academically, and quite challenging. The faculty are intelligent, inspired, and clearly have a passion for teaching. They are available and accessible, and welcome students for one-on-one assistance and discussions. If you are doing poorly in a class, the professor will almost always make him/herself available outside of class to discuss opportunities for improvement. I went to a public high school and schoolwork was always a breeze for me; I was challenged at Loyola.

As for the social life, emphasis is on drinking, but there are plenty of opportunities (clubs, organizations, volunteer opportunities) for students who don't wish to partake in those activities. I've read a lot of reviews about students drinking 5 nights a week; this was not my experience at all. Everyone I knew mostly reserved partying for the weekends, and worked during the week to keep up with their courses.

The campus itself is gorgeous, and offers all of the amenities of a city in the comfort of a residential neighborhood. Some of Baltimore's best neighborhoods and attractions are just a short cab ride away.As for the social scene, it can be cliquey, yet there are always people who gravitate toward each other. There is someone for everyone on campus, and friends you make usually remain throughout your years there.
