This institution is the worst excuse for aBrightEducation
This institution is the worst excuse for a University I've ever heard of. This school does not value their students success, rather that of their wallet. Grand Valley had a beautiful camps, and that's about it. The choice of food is terrible, I've had food poisoning twice from University food, not to mention its terrible nutritional value. "Quiet Hours" are NOT enforced whatsoever, so if you enjoy music and cursing going on until 4 AM, living in a cornfield, and being treated like trash, GVSU is for you.

Please don't listen to all the idiots complaining that GVSU is not a party college. If you want to pay $10,000 a year to party then go to WMU or Arizona State. I really can't believe that people are rating a school based on how easy it is to find a party. You can go to any college campus in America and find a party, that isn't the point of going to college. You guys are watching too many movies to have the expectation that college is ONLY about partying. I'm sure that these party first students are going to be very valuable members of society. The criticism of the on campus housing being a dead zone for drinking is also ridiculous, the on campus housing is mainly for freshmen and sophomores, you know people under 21 in the first place? I am 21 and I live in the off campus apartments at 48 West. There are several off campus apartments near the school and they obviously don't follow the same policy that the school does, you can do whatever you want to (within reason).

Question
GVSU has been an excellent place for meQuite BrightComputer Science
GVSU has been an excellent place for me to grow and learn. I was accepted into "better" schools, such as UofM and State, but I chose GV because smaller classes AND the "big university" feel were both important to me. I would not take back my decision. My professors are great for the most part, and they're always available to help. Most offer both scheduled office hours and appointments, so there's always a way to seek help. There is also the "study buddy" program and other resources, such as MS^3 and the Math Lab, and structured learning classes.

The campus is nice, everything is clean and the landscaping is well-manicured. My biggest piece of advice to those complaining about the social life is to get involved with Greek life and other RSOs. Greek life here IS different than other schools and it's very fun and rewarding to be involved with and provides many resume boosters, such as volunteer work and leadership experience. My only complaint is that finding RSOs (outside of Greek letter organizations) that are very active can be a daunting task, but you will find some you'll love being involved with if you put in any effort. Otherwise, if Allendale's small size is your problem, get on the bus and go to Grand Rapids. It runs late so you can go out and have a way back.
