Grand Valley is an overall great school.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Grand Valley is an overall great school. While it is often overlooked for not having a brand-name reputation such as U of M or MSU, it is still a school that students should do their research about. The level of difficulty for academics is appropriate for how challenged the student wants to be. Lower level classes and structured learning courses are offered for those needing extra help in an area and the honors college and higher level courses are offered for those seeking challenge. Professors are more than happy to help during office hours or other scheduled appointments. It's been argued that GVSU is not a social school. Which is some-what true if your definition of social is drinking and partying. There are so many organizations and an awesome Greek life that plan fun events every weekend and throughout the week; from comedy shows, game tournaments, to dancing and sports events. And all sports events are FREE to students! It's a matter of putting yourself out there to be social. The food is better than any campus I know of and the dorms are immaculate compared to those of other universities. It is a smaller campus which makes everything within a 10 minute walking distance and it's very convenient. Overall GVSU is an excellent school. It is young, so there is still room for it to grow and the students coming in now are the ones who will make the reputation.

THERE IS NO SOCIAL LIFE.BrightPolitical Science
THERE IS NO SOCIAL LIFE. But it's a good school as far as academics go. I've had some fun times, but it's so hard to find something fun to do.

Question
I guess this would be the perfect collegeBrightMechanical Engineering
I guess this would be the perfect college for straight edges. not for me though.
engineering program is good, harder than U of M but doesn't have the same rep unfortunately. Grand Rapids is lots of fun, engineering majors will spend most of their time downtown. If your going into engineering expect to have no free time, and when you do have free time you'll just not wanna party cuz you'll be too tired. the co-op program they have at grand valley for engineers is better than any other public university in michigan, and thats why im going here.

I dont suggest going to grand valley if you like to party, or are going into any other field than engineering, nursing, or business.

as far as the low score in scolastic success, it really depends on your professor. make sure to choose wisely! vastly different difficulty levels for the exact same course depending on your professor. same thing with my rating of faculty. really depends on the professor.

ive noticed though that some engineering professors are too busy to go to half of their posted office hours, and so if you need help you need to make friends with people in your courses.

Of course other professors are in their office all day, really depends on the professor.some exams are too much work crammed into the time allotted, so you really need to study +15 hours per exam if you want to pass. Seriously, put in the work or change to business major or something.
