Grand Valley has many great clubs with friendlyBrightUndecided
Grand Valley has many great clubs with friendly people, and a great sport programs. This campus is small (can walk across campus in 20min) but beautiful. Realize the campus is in Allendale not Grand Rapids and there is absolutely nothing to do in Allendale, the town over Standale has a Meijer and Applebees and not much else. The city is a fun place to go, but it is a 30 min drive and you have to be 21 to get into the bars. The Education is fine, but I think the most annoying thing is finding things to do on the weekend, especially because MOST students go home on the weekends, This is NOT MSU, There are not many parties. Also

Grand Rapids is mainly Dutch and very religious, And many students who go here live in and around Grand Rapids, which is why they go home every weekend. Many students are conservative (left wing) and Religious, they have no problems talking about god on the way to class. Also Grand Valley is DRY campus and Police are very harsh. They go looking for any parties, which is why there aren't any, and will not just break up the party, but hold everyone and

give them MIPs. I am shy and I made Friends but I was lucky and some friends I'm not completely compatible with, there just someone I can hang with. But the art program does rock!

Question
Grand Valley State University's engineering program is excepMechanical Engineering
Grand Valley State University's engineering program is exceptional. The program has prepared me well for my job in the engineering field. For those in the program, I would recommend not procrastinating. You should work on assignments and projects as soon as possible in order to lower stress levels! I was the type of student who started out doing what was necessary to get by, but by my 3rd year at GVSU, I had realized that this was no way to get thru the program. I also recommending asking questions to profs and working in groups with other students.

Question
I did two years at a community college,AverageUndecided
I did two years at a community college, and the way things are around here, I feel like I'm back in CC. The majority of students are very stuck up and arrogant. If you don't play sports or at least look like you do, you will not fit it easily here.

There is zero social life here. Sure, the university proudly displays its 200+ clubs, but most are either too weird to be worth joining or so elitist and exclusive that you have no chance of getting in. Most of the clubs also have a nice little habit of posting any sort of material about joing only a few days before the deadline.

GVSU spends more on pro-GVSU propoganda, trying to convince students that this is a great place, than they actually do trying to make it a great place.

If you want to make friends quickly, have a social life, and enjoy your college experience, save yourself some time, don't apply/come here. It's a waste.
