GVSU is an excellent university.Quite BrightPsychology
GVSU is an excellent university. I have access to any professor and they are more then willing to help me at any time. I have learned a great deal in the 2 years at GVSU. I am planning on graduate work and I believe that my experience at GVSU has enhanced my knowledge to the level of grad school. If plausable, GVSU is a great school for you to attend.

Question
The school is aesthetically pleasing basically.BrightMechanical Engineering
The school is aesthetically pleasing basically. I like the Allendale campus because of its looks. But there is practically no social life here. Allendale is a bunch of cow pastures (which reek horrible on some days) and corn fields. Allendale is not a city, there is NOTHING to do here, unless you know people who are desperately trying to make a social atmosphere out of the place. The professors in the engineering program are nice and helpful (mostly), but we have to do some pointless things in the classes, and take classes that arent very relevant to our major. Hard grading also, partial credit is a blessing if you can get it.

Question
GVSU is simply a small town liberal college,Super BrilliantPsychology
GVSU is simply a small town liberal college, that is slowly expanding. Unfortunately it is located in Allendale Michigan, a small (2 stoplight's long) town, surrounded by cornfields. Most facilities are fairly outdated, which makes you feel like your not really getting your $'s worth. The classes are crowded, as well as the PC lab's, not to mention the parking problem too.

Most of the students are very narrow minded Christian conservatives from tiny towns in MI. As you walk around campus, you'll notice christian "chalk" messages scribbled everywhere that praise jesus that are completely tolerated by the faculity. If your not a christian, it can be very offensive. Speak out and you'll be the outcast.

Also there's not much originality at GVSU. The majority of student's all look and act like sheep; unable to have an original thought. Additionally, be prepared to be rudely distracted by cell phones. Everywhere on campus you will hear annoying beep's, ringing, loudly talking self-centered arrogant individuals, who could care less about you or being rude. There is an extreme lack of concern from the professors in regards to cell phones being on during class, lectures, exams, and even in the library.

In one too many ways, GVSU is a "wanna-be" university. I would comfortably call GVSU a dressed up christian community college.

However, despite the lame student's, and low quality facilities, you can learn but you will have to try very hard, but it can be done.

If your considering going to GVSU, come and observe for your self. Sit in on a class. See what you think. If your christian, and from a small town, you'll love GVSU.
