These comments below are ridiculous.Quite BrightEnglish
These comments below are ridiculous. It is an unbelievable accomplishment not to have a great time at Duke. The resources are there to pursue any area of acedemia and any extracurricular activity, there are people of all sorts of backgrounds, ideologies, and interests with whom to interact, the teaching is never complained about (and I've found it to be amazing) and there are infinite ways to have fun during the week and on weekends. Besides all of these, the campus is amazing. I cannot think of a more well-rounded, friendly, national, and supportive institution free of the suffocating pretention of some other schools (think Harvard). Every time I visit a friend at a different school, be it UMich or Brown, I am so thankful I go here and that I got in. If you are a social, bright, energetic, and creative person I strongly suggest you come here.

After a few years at Duke, I dreadQuite BrightPolitical Science
After a few years at Duke, I dread leaving it! This place is unbelievable. In every respect Duke is amazing and it is just getting better. With an administration that is always focused on improvement and outstanding resources, Duke is able to accomplish virtually anything it wants. I have had intellectually challenging experiences with professors such as Hardt (a Marxist who wrote a best-selling novel with a convicted terrorist) and Feaver (former director of security and arms under Clinton) and students here from all over the US and world and have grown. For prefrosh--work hard so you can get in because when you do you'll never want to leave!

Question
Duke is younger than most of the topQuite BrightPublic Policy
Duke is younger than most of the top five or ten in the US, so in many ways I think we are still developing. With the addition of a new president this Fall, there is a sustained sense of energy about this campus that isn't available many other places. The faculty are top-rate (they actually wrote the textbooks in several of my classes), the students are very friendly and the grounds are gorgeous. I can't imagine being this happy anywhere else; this was the right choice for me.
