I would call Duke University the biggest disappointmentAverageEngineering Department
I would call Duke University the biggest disappointment of my life. Before I attended college all I heard were stories about how amazing college is, how everyone makes life long friends, and how you will be exposed to new ideas. Unfortunately none of these things occur at Duke University. During orientation every freshman is full of enthusiasm, but that only last for about half of the first semester. Soon everyone quits everything they wanted to do so that they can get into a wall street i-bank/med school/Harvard law school/fill in the bank. Almost no one comes to this school to enjoy their youth and try new things. Instead everyone uses this school as a launching pad to whatever else they want to do in life, and the students will do whatever it takes to get there. The kids in high school who would enjoy Duke are the ones who are two-faced friends who brownnose the teacher and say whatever it takes to get an "A."

The faculty are slightly better but still nothing to be impressed with. They teach because they have to. The better faculty tend to teach higher in your major but they are only better because they bother to at least learn your name. Overall, Duke just skates by on its reputation. The education is lackluster, you might as well go to a state school unless you want to be able to put Duke on your resume. After spending time with friends at less prestigious colleges I found I was no more educated than they were. I also found this to be true when I spent a semester studying abroad. In summary don't go to this school unless your a back stabbing friend who is desperate to say they went to a prestigious school.

Question
Duke is full of rich and arrogant whiteBrightEconomics
Duke is full of rich and arrogant white and asian people. The guys here are rude, perverted, and sexist. I've heard some of them say that the girls here are "easy" and you can be "snot ugly" and still get some good a**. Also, some professors here are HORRIBLE. They're very smart and probably do really good research but are HORRIBLE teachers. It's definately NOT worth the $45,000 you pay to come here.
