Assumption College for Sisters

I am very disappointed with this school, I had had many other colleges that I could of went to but my guidance councilor told me that Mitchell would be the best choice for me but wasn't at all... Mitchell is horrible school, food is bad, class attentince.. The list keeps on going , I recommend not to come here at all stay away from here

4th Year Male -- Class 2016

Providence College was a HUGE letdown, to say the least. I was so excited to come to this school, despite the fact that I heard that it was a huge party school and not diverse. I truly regret coming here and really wish I could take it back. I'm transferring next semester, because I simply can't take this place anymore. Here's why:

THINGS TO DO
I don't drink, so I'm not really into the whole party scene, but everyone said that there were lots of people who didn't drink and tons of things to do in providence. Everyone I met during my tour and incoming freshmen events were soo nice and approachable. Unfortunately that all changed after the first week or so. This school is ALL about partying. People would go to the dingy bars (they literally look like shacks) outside of campus EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE WEEK. Not to mention the fact that they would all pregame in the dorms starting at like 7, blasting their terrible pop music, screaming like little girls, running down the hallways in their high heels, and puking in the bathrooms. There's a cleaning lady that comes mon-fri, but the weekends are when we needed them the most! There would be vomit on three out of the four toilets, girls would pee in the showers, so they would reek or urine. I did have my own group of amazing friends, but without them I would've dropped out after the first month. We would spend a lot of time in providence, going to the mall and out to dinner. Providence is a nice city, but after the sun sets you better have your pepper spray ready. I don't think there was one time where I wasn't approached/harassed by someone on the street. There's tons of clubs, but I would only recommend going to them if you want to get raped. I have personally experienced guys grabbing my butt, licking my friend's neck, and couples literally having sex on the dance floor! uhh... gross! BOP plans tons of events every week for the students, but none of them actually happen! They plan some really cool things like going to amusement parks, boston, martha's vineyard, etc, but 4 out of the 5 times I bought something from there it was canceled. The thing is, they get packages for whatever it is they have planned, so they need a certain amount of people, who never seem to come. Or maybe they just want to make a profit, like they always seem to want to do!

MONEY HUNGRY
Ok, I think $47,000 dollars is plenty of money to be paying for this place, but they always seem to ask for more! The school would literally call my parents once a week for the whole year asking for donations. Every time someone puked in a bathroom or opened the fire door, the building would be fined 200 bucks. It doesn't sound like much when you think about it being split among 180 girls, but it adds up. There was one weekend where the fire door was opened 5 times by drunken girls who thought it was funny.

ACADEMICS
As far as academics go, PC has a very good reputation. I was a bio major, which is pretty much the hardest of majors here at PC. Your freshman year, you are required to take calc, bio, chem, and civ for both semesters, and believe me it was not easy! Chem was an absolute killer. Tests were impossible, and the average grades were always below 70, sometimes even in the 50s. Yet, a test was never curved. They literally try to weed out as many people as possible. They complicate the material, so even if you understand it, you can't figure out the problems they are asking. Lab was also extremely challenging. The fact that I spent about 8 hours a week working on a lab report, and then getting a c+ on it was extremely discouraging. There must've been about 2 people in my lab classes that had an a average, which is ridiculous. Lab is supposed to raise your grade, not lower it. Civ was bearable for the most part. I enjoyed the history and literature lectures, but theology and philosophy were AWFUL!

CATHOLICISM
If you're not catholic, do not come here! If you're not conservative, do not come here! This place is filled with professors and students stuck in jesus' time. Students would put flyers of why we should love jesus under our doors. Teachers were so close-minded, it was unbelievable. If anyone ever mentioned a liberal view or questioned anything concerning catholicism, the teachers would either completely disregard the question or call you a pagan. Yes, I was called a pagan by a teacher. The students seem sooo brainwashed, preaching about how jesus is our one and only savior and anyone who believes otherwise will be condemned to hell. CREEPY!

FOOD
The food here sucks! Freshmen 15?? Not gonna happen! I actually lost weight after coming here! The only people that gained weight were those who got beer bellies... attractive. There's only one caf here (that you don't have to pay for), and the food is disgusting. Not only does it taste like cardboard, but 20 minutes after you swallow, you're running to the bathroom. They must put more laxatives into the food than the actual food itself, because it wasn't just me who had this problem. The food is oily, undercooked, tasteless, and very fast food like. The only decent things to eat were the salads and sandwiches and wraps from the deli section. Imagine having salad or a turkey wrap EVERY DAY for 9 months. Stock up on ramen and easy mac, you're gonna need it!

DIVERSITY
NONE whatsoever! Everyone here is white white white! The only people who weren't were on the basketball teams. There must've been 1 asian/hispanic/black in every 100 people. And I'm not saying I'm racist against white people, but the ones here are so racist. Things were published in the school paper that spoke about how bad gays were, and how violent hispanics and blacks were. How were these things approved? I have no idea! Students would openly talk about how they hated minorities and how they were so much better than them. They are all rich kids who had everything served on a silver platter. They know nothing of the real world and only care about themselves! Teachers would even say racist things that I couldn't believe I heard! For example, I knew of a teacher who said that all black people do not know how to swim because they are too poor to own their own pools. seriously?!?!

HIGH SCHOOL
So this is college right?? WRONG! This place is exactly like high school! The people are extremely immature! Boys are afraid to talk to girls, unless drunk at a bar or house party. The girls here are extremely cliquey and gossip like crazy. They have no self respect or common courtesy. They wear clothes to the bars that high school kids should be wearing(slutty!). Teachers take attendance, and it's part of your grade! If you walk into class 5 minutes late, everyone turns around and looks at you with an evil glare. This is NOT what college is supposed to be like. And the fact that these kids are babied and sheltered, does not help them grow at all!So.. if anyone has read this entire review, I truly hope I have made an impact as to whether you attend PC or not. It is not what it seems, and I had to learn the hard way.
