The best way to describe UB is thatQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
The best way to describe UB is that it's a place of mediocrity... At best. Both campuses don't offer much to look at, besides those oddly placed columns off to the side of a dilapidated north campus. The food doesn't ever get complimented further than "pretty good" and all decent restaurants are a car ride away. The education can be compared to a rigorous junior year in high school and nothing more. Some of the professors (the ones who speak adequate English) have a whole lot of genius but are forced to dumb down the rest of the class to match the low intelligence level of the majority. I've met a sampling of the mere ounce of class there is at this school, and they don't have nice things to say either. The Greek life is just as weak as the education. The houses are terrible, the Greeks are undeservingly pretentious, and nothing says "we don't have enough beer" than never having enough beer. So by the time it's 9 at night you get to choose between paying $35 for a cab to head to crummy downtown buffalo to pay $5 a drink at the bars or going to the library where you'll try not to laugh at the couple making out or the girl wearing a snooki poof. If you're looking for a good time, I hope you're into average looking assholes or loose girls who don't have a clue. If you found any of these things appealing, then you found yourself a home! Just make sure you move in before sundown, or your stuff will get stolen and your bike will get pushed sideways for absolutely no reason at all. Enjoy!

Question
Here's the raw reality of the University atBrightAnthropology
Here's the raw reality of the University at Buffalo.
1. Their TA's get paid to sleep!
2. UB give's out fellowships to students who already have several BA and MA degrees!
3. This school is all about the GRAD student ~ many of the GRAD students are TA's with holier than thou attitudes!

4. Their financial aid and Student Response Center (SRC) is the worst... You would think such a highly respected school such as UB would have their act together in these departments, but they don't. The personnel are unmotivated, overworked, clueless and unfriendly! Cross your fingers that your financial aid doesn't get messed up, because it will take the entire school year to straighten it out!

5. Many classrooms are in need of repair and go ignored while the college builds on new additions. Desks are broken, walls peeling, and the smell of garbage lingers in the tunnel, a tunnel students must walk through to get to some classes.

6. Most professors show up to class... some don't, but don't expect to see your professor all the time. Instead, expect to see a TA teaching your 100-level course.

7. Lastly, parking is atrocious, lots are far from the actual classrooms. Dorm students take up the closest spots and they never move their cars, thus, in the winter the commuter student must walk quite a distance. Security scans cars nearly daily, and if you don't your parking permit showing you will be assured of a parking ticket.

Although the overall grounds are nice, upon your initial walk into many buildings you are greeted by the smell of laundry detergents as the laundry rooms are placed near many of the entrances.

Bottom line: Spend your college money on a different college!

Question
There is only one reason average and aboveBrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
There is only one reason average and above average students go here. It's dirt cheap. It's history, political science and law schools and departments are ranked terribly. If you go there don't count on getting a job except perhaps in Buffalo, constantly ranked by Forbes as one of America's worst cities. There's snow, high taxes, and a declining economy.
