SUNY Bing is an affordable school.BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
SUNY Bing is an affordable school. Since it is a public state school and the fact that it's NYS, Binghamton U. does not have a huge budget to work with. As an SOM student, I can only say that many firms from NYC recruit heavily from Bing. Outside the northeastern region, Binghamton is almost unheard of by companies.

The surrounding city is truly a saddening sight to see. There are some nice areas but when you pass through the 'bad' ones, you will definitely know. It looks like a run-down ghost town. The streets are bumpy, the store fronts looks like it has not changed for more than 30 years and the local people are dubious to the college person. Not all but many are. I live off-campus and renting a room from a local resident who is one of the nicest person I know in Binghamton city.

Anyway, if you want to enjoy this place, you have to look for your excitement - it certainly will not come to you like other schools. Get involved - join clubs! There are tons here. Apply for a job and expose yourself. You'll meet some great people on campus. Good luck.

Question
Binghamton is a great university set in aBiology
Binghamton is a great university set in a not-so-great backdrop. The city of Binghamton is what you make it. Sure it's cold and ugly, but really, who cares? Once you make a life for yourself and get into your studies, the backdrop is of minimal importance. Getting involved in club sports was the best decision I could have made as an undergrad. It gave me the opportunity to meet a wealth of people and have a prosperous social life. The education I received at Binghamton was personal and challenging because I sought it out and was rewarded for it. In my current graduate studies, I feel well prepared and thankful for all the Binghamton has given me.

Question
It's a decent school, it has good well-intentionedQuite BrightLinguistics
It's a decent school, it has good well-intentioned professors but they are financially strapped, which limits their abilities. It should start developping academic programs and stop trying to win grants and funding to promote the basketball team. If they start rebuilding the academic aspect, the school would be better off. The school's reputation is very good for getting into grad/law school and corporate business-type jobs, but elsewhere it doesn't carry quite as much weight.Overall though, I'd say it's a decent school. I'd recommend it for the price (from what i hear from other SUNY students it's far better than any other SUNY school), but if the price is not an issue, go to NYU or Cornell.
