Like what has been said in most other reviews, Binghamton is a good deal. It is a good school, but it is not known outside of NY. I transfered here from community college and in some ways I regret doing so. I would have prefered to have gone to NYU or GWU, but I could not afford it. Binghamton is cold and ugly, it rains or snows everyday, and you feel completley isolated from the rest of the world while you are here. Many students are pretentious. Those who are not fall into several other categories- The first and probably the worst is the Guitos. These are your typical western Long Island wannabe frat boys, who are roided out and entire wardropes consist abercrombie and fitch. When they are not at school, you can find them at their day job at Hollister Co. The girls are just as bad, they look like characters from the sopranos- perms hairspray and all. The second is the Asians. This group sticks together. Dont even bother trying to ask an asian girl out. The third is the nerds. They spend all their time either playing Halo or in front of the computer with a box of tissues by their side. Finally, there is sorority girls w/ beer bellies. Not very hot, infact they are disgusting, beware of BU girls. So really the social life is terrible, most people I know wouldnt want to be in any of those groups. But if you are willing to do the work and just get through the terrible college experience here at Binghamton, you will have a good shot at getting into a top law/medical school when you're done. Just dont expect good company while you are here.

Question
Even though I hate the actual school, I'veBrightPsychology
Even though I hate the actual school, I've made some of the best friends of my life of Binghamton. But social aspects aside, this school is terrible. Academically, yes it has a good reputation and it is a challenging competitive environment. Job success from this school is a plus but only because of the misrepresentation the school gives. Administratively this school is horrible. Ever hear "you get what you pay for"? Well, that entirely applies to Binghamton. I am currently a second semester senior who didn't find out til 5 weeks into my last semester that I was over the credit limits in a specific category, so my extra credits were taken away and I no longer qualify for full time student status. This affects my financial aid, my scholarships, and my health insurance. If you go into the arts and sciences school program, they offer no or terrible advising. You're expected to do everything on your own and if you happen to not know something " you are penailzed for your own ignorance" as an associate dean told me. If you are planning to go into the school of management, then maybe this school is for you because they bend over backwards for those students. So yes, I had a great time here with my friends, I joined various clubs, including a sorority, but if you want to go to a school without hassles, quality professors who know what they are doing and are willing to give you the time of day, assurance that you'll get quality advising, quality health services when you are sick, and a nice surrounding community - DO NOT GO TO BINGHAMTON!!!!

Question
Binghamton University resembles my high school back onQuite Bright
Binghamton University resembles my high school back on Long Island. Since it is a SUNY, it is filled with New Yorkers (mainly Long Island). People are close-minded, arrogant, self-centered, and spoiled. The only diversity on campus is a great number of Asian Americans who keep to themselves. The other minorities follow this pattern of seclusion and makes for an unfortunate homogeneous student body. If you're looking for a bubble filled with clones, you have found your college.
