Ohio State University

Ohio State was a great school. I would not have traded schools for anything. I would have traded roommates my freshman year but other than that I have no complaints. The professors for the most part are fair. Of course with bigger classes it is harder to get one on one attention but there are always tutoring options available for you. My academic advisor was worthless but I really didn't need help with much while I was there and I had other people who helped me out. I spent a lot of time on Ag. Campus and I loved it. You really had a small college feel when you were on Ag Campus. Also there is nothing better than OSU football! I mean come on even if you are not a big sports fan it is so fun to get wrapped up in the event of the games. There are plenty of parties if you like that and there are great areas to sit and study. I love OSU and I am proud to be a Buckeye!

I'd have to agree with the comment below me (the kid from NY) and absolutely disagree with the disgruntled business major from the west coast. OSU is a school with boundless academic, extracurricular and athletic opportunities. You really have to take initiative in order to succeed here - no one is going to hold your hand. In my view, this is the ultimate "real-world," college experience, something I was sorely missing when I went to a small private liberal arts school in, surprise surprise... the West Coast (So Cal to be exact).

The kid from the west coast claims that OSU has "no repuation" outside the state of Ohio. Really? Then explain to me how I got a job working for a firm near Wall Street in Midtown Manhattan, only 2 months after graduation, even before some of my Ivy League contemporaries (the Fisher degree goes a long way, trust me). And OSU has the second highest number of living alums for any school in the U.S. (2nd to Penn State), and MANY of them are in NYC, D.C., and other parts of the East Coast (even some in Florida, Arizona, and California).

It's funny, I go to baseball games in NY (Mets fan representin'), and I've been pleasantly talked to parents and other alumns of OSU (have to also deal with all those people wearing the Penn State/Michigan gear in the area, ugh...) I talked to one of the gate attendents working the games, who told me her son (like myself) loved OSU, and is now working for GE, one of the best companies in the world, in Cincinnati. Not too shabby for a "dumb hick school"

Don't let some of the negative comments deter you from coming to OSU. Yes, it may not be as culturally enlightening of a school, as say, NYU or Columbia, but it's not supposed to be. It's a school that is what it is - a very big, well-respected public university offering solid programs all around (especially in business), and attracts those that are sports fanatics. If you can's stand all the sports, and the stupid, drunken hicks/rednecks from Ohio, my suggestion is to try to find some East/West Coasters, or international students at the school, or go to a school elsewhere.
