Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Transferred here from Florida, because my family hadQuite BrightJournalism
Transferred here from Florida, because my family had to move back to Ohio for personal reasons. Let me just say I have an Associates degree from Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Florida. In that time I had nowhere near the difficulty or misguidance that UC has bestowed upon me. It took them weeks just to answer specific questions about the transfer process, not to mention I was advised to take and took 9 hours that I didn't even need!! I was told we didn't have broadcast Journalism (what I went to school for originally), we just had standard journalism. Come to find out months down the road we do have Broadcast Journalism, just not through Arts and Sciences!! It's through CCM our Music conservatory, world renowned, however I wasn't informed of this program on purpose so that the higher ups in journalism could keep me in arts and sciences, than keep me in CCM, where I needed to be! Even my faculty instructors told me that I was flat out lied to. Most Universities FYI have Journalism AND BROADCAST JOURNALISM TOGETHER...in the same building at that!!! not UC. Money grubbing college if I ever witnessed one, not to mention the administration is the pitts...good luck getting through with any of them...I'm an honest person and I'm extremely ashamed Iv'e attended this University. Real quick I just want to mention this University takes around $2,700 of your tuition to put towards their overpaid coaches and stadiums...athletic teams ipads etc. etc. It was part of an investigative report about how students get charged for the universities sports teams without their knowledge!! absolutely absurd!! what about academics? what most came for?? $11,000 a year in state to attend UC...Ohio State is cheaper and a better overall school...how do you explain this...GREED is how.

Question
Quality of classes and teachers varied widely, itBrightJournalism
Quality of classes and teachers varied widely, it all rounded out to an average experience for me. The surrounding city has a lot to offer with some nice hidden gems. What really sucks about UC is the administration: you're just a moneybag to them. I developed a chronic illness while in school, and when I asked my counselor about withdrawing she said I would have to do it in person. Lucky me, I was too sick to go see my professors in person (or go to class in the first place). So I asked the registrar's office if there was another option, and they gave me virtually the same response: fill out this form, have your professors sign it, and bring it to OneStop. I repeatedly explained my situation to them and they ignored my condition. I contacted the bursar's office, accessibility services, and my professors to see if they could be of help, but once again, I couldn't get a straight answer. I felt like no one cared enough to actually help me. If you have a chronic illness or are disabled in any way, think twice about going here.

Question
I am a transfer student, and I haveQuite BrightElectrical Engineering
I am a transfer student, and I have to say, this is the worst university I have studied at.
I'll start with the transfer process. Overall, this took about 2 months to get the acceptance letter. I know my transcripts arrived 3 to 4 days after I applied because of delivery confirmation so that wasn't the holdup. I got the acceptance letter in march. Only one of the three transcripts I sent in was evaluated and all credits listed were listed as electives. It is September now and none of my other credits have been counted.

Now lets get on to signing up for courses. The advising session is mandatory but nobody tells you that. Also, they will block out registration for months at a time because of orientation groups. So you will be trying to sign up for classes but the computer will keep kicking you out and you have no idea why. The system will also undo class registrations because you don't have the pre-requesites done, even though an exception was added for you to take the class. Fail on registration.

VA and GI Bill. I submitted my letter of eligibility to the veterans affairs office back in June. They did not process my GI bill till the end of August, so I was forced to take out a loan. Not happy about that.

Classes. Now for the meat of my complaint the classes themselves. This is the first time in my college education where I have no clue what is due, for what class it's due, and when it's due. Out of the five classes I'm taking only one of them do I have a clue what is due when. The professor hates blackboard, and attendance is mandatory in her class. At the start of each class she announces upcoming assignments and any other pertinent info. She is the only one that does this. All of the other instructors just funnel the information through the mess that is blackboard and call it good. This semester I've missed multiple assignments because of this poor setup. In larger classes you may also be dealing with multiple sections and a 'meta' site. Things get posted to all sites and it's near impossible to keep track of everything.

Faculty. It's 30/70. Some are helpful, most are not. Most of them force you to schedule an appointment for the office hours listed on the syllabus. Then when you go to them with a legitimate problem, many of them will just tell you no, nothing can be done. You then have the issue of understanding what the hell they are saying. Most of the instructors are not native speakers of english.Needless to say, I won't be coming back to this university next semester.
