People at this school ARE different.AverageBiology
People at this school ARE different. Given that I belive that that makes this school that much better. The more different personalities there are the better the experience at a school is. Yes you are going to have weekends here where there is nothing to do, but there are other weekends where there is a to of stuff to do. It's all how you look at things, I see CMU as a good place to get a good education and a good place to make friends and have fun, so it is for me. Others see it as a place of intense work, people who only worry about their own major and work, and no fun. So it is that way for them. I would recommend this school to anyone who is open minded, granted you will get frustrated with some people here who aren't, if you are open minded you won't mind then will you?

At Carnegie Mellon it is very easy to have a great experience or a terrible one. You have to make an effort to find your crowd. There is a big mix of people - from athletic to gothic - and it is easy to find yourself living next door to the type you are not. Do not get worried. I had the best four years of my life. I partied a lot and made great friends. I also did my share of class work, which is extremely demanding. Make sure that you work on your time management - or take a course on it. This is a great school for scholastics - and a great city to explore. No reason not to love CMU.

This is by far one of the best Universities in the world. I would never change anything about my four years at CMU. Some may complain about its social life, yet it really is what you make of it. I had a blast & got a great paying job right away. It's worth every penny!
