Great school. great time. Coming from the Mid-west, I was intimidated by the local accents and the possibility of not fitting in. I proud to say that the group I met at PC are my best friends and outstanding people.

Here are the vitals:

2 to 1 girl/guy ratio
5 campus bars within walking distance
Great social environment (there are four square blocks of off-campus houses)
You can find a reason to drink every night of the week, but the serious weekend festivities usually run Thur-Monday night (during football season).

Beautiful women are imported from CT and New York. Thus the need for preppyness....You get used to it.

Fun and competitive sports teams to watch. Men's basketball and hockey are highly competitive on the national level.

It is also fun to see the women's programs. Women's hockey at PC produced more than half of the squad that one the Gold Medal. Women's basketball.... you get to watch UConn.

Diversity virtually non-existent and subject of many jokes on campus
At the end of the day, PC has developed a strong reputation within the business communities in the NE (read: Boston and New York). PC grads typically watchout for each other and the networking capabilities are there. One of the things not mentioned or asked for is the excellent resources in the career center. They can provide a list of PC contacts in various career fields as well as job fairs and resume help. They were instramental in getting my career started.

Great experience. It it is't a perfect enviornment, but its flaws give it character. Social scene is excellent. PC students know how to party. Work can be challenging. It depends on what you know, not what you do. Going here was the best decesion I've made.

Question
If you are looking for diversity and/or aMath
If you are looking for diversity and/or a liberal enviornment this school is not for you. The majority of the students are your typical white upper middle class Catholic. And all the girls are skinny and beautiful. But although the students share a similar background, they are not, however, close-minded people. PC students feel like they share a common bond with one another. This contributes to the large and unique sense of community felt on the campus. Most of the students are just genuinely nice people. They care about everyone and are interested in befriending the entire school.

As far as academics, it's knowlege that counts. I was a double major in Math and Computer Science. Both are very challenging majors (especially Math - I feel it's difficulty is often underrated). In these courses, it's what you know, not how much work you do that matters. I've noticed my other liberal arts courses were similar, but not as clear cut. The general rule seemed to be if you catch on quick you can get away with doing little work. This led to some people doing loads of work, while others are doing the bare minimum. This academic approach has it's strengths. It's the thinking process I went through, and the resulting knowlege I achieved that have prepared me for my job.

Now for student life. The school offers a variety of activities, and everyone seems to be involved one way or another. Also, there are many annual campus events that are a must to attend. It is a big party school. When you graduate they might as well give you a degree in drinking as well. Whether it be getting wasted any or every day of the week, or going to a forty kegger at 10:30 Saturday morning(and yes they all get kicked), there is always a place to get absolutely out of your mind wasted. People here know how to party.

I must say that although it has it's flaws, my experience at Providence College was incredible. It was the best four years of my life.
