Furman University is an excellent school.Language - French/Spanish/etc.
Furman University is an excellent school...if you only consider its scholarly aspects. The professors (in my department) are the best I could have asked for. I feel that I received a world-class education. As for the student body and preparation for the real social world, it is miserable. I shudder to look back on the bizarre place that Furman is socially. If you do not aspire to be a cookie-cutter sorority girl/frat dude, yet you do wish to have friends, Furman is not the place for you.

Question
The main thing I would say about FurmanQuite BrightPsychology
The main thing I would say about Furman is that it is a school entirely dedicated to the undergraduate experience. For the most part, this offers great bonuses for students. Already as a Junior, I have had research and teaching assistant (that did not at all limit students from interaction with a full professor) experience similar to that usually reserved for graduate students. Professors seek mentorship relationships with students in order to help us discover who we are and where we might want to go. Thus, there are great opportunities everywhere. On the other hand, it is only an undergraduate school. Because of this, it lacks some of the age and worldliness that you might find at a University with a larger and somewhat older student body. Sometimes I feel like I might want a little less guidance and shelter; rather, I might want more real world exposure. In the end, however, I feel like I will be greatly prepared by my little Furman experience when I do in fact reach the real world.

Question
I have grown immensely, in social, personal, andQuite BrightReligion/Religious
I have grown immensely, in social, personal, and intellectual ways here at Furman. I absolutely love my major, and feel incredibly lucky to have found something I love to do. I plan to attend graduate school for religion next year, and feel quite prepared for any of the rigorous programs to which I have applied. The faculty are great, as they try to get to know students on a personal level, often having classes and clubs over to their houses for dinners, etc. Some people look down on the social life at Furman, and maybe if you're the type of person who wants a variety of huge parties to choose from every night, you might be out of luck, but there are plenty of things to do around here, from 1 or 2 frat parties per weekend, if that's what you're into, to great restaurants, bars, coffee shops downtown, movies, plays, and concerts both on campus and off. I find plenty to do, plus, campus housing is great, with almost-luxiourious on-campus apartments for juniors and seniors, so housing lends itself very well to entertaining on-campus. Come visit to really get a feel for the place!
