Here is a tip.Quite BrightMechanical Engineering
Here is a tip. All Universities that are commuter based do not provide a typical college life or setting. So, if you are expecting a college setting like one in the Paper Chase or other movies where the just off campus bars and clubs are by the thousands, forget it. Thats in the movies and actually most colleges/universities are directly influenced by their locations and local laws. Many counties in Texas are DRY. Meaning no booze. The age of 21 usually means that the available clubs or boozers are filled with graduates only. Being an under grad means you can't drink, to bad so sorry.

But, if you want a party school, where most likely the more party hardy types wont graduate, Try colleges/universities that are in the exact middle of NOWHERE! Those places will have the local boozers for the grad students since there isnt another place within 100 miles to drink. Close to UTA is NTSU. Its a party school. Its an elevated High School. Ive attended both. UTA is sincere in wanting their students to graduate and move on. The average age of the students isnt 18-19, I think it was last set around 24? Meaning, the majority of students are paying their own way through, they have been to the party schools and flunked out, or have decided to go back once again and this time finish their work. Remember, college isnt a running frat party, isnt a social club, isnt a vocational school, isnt there to baby sit you or indulge in your poor attitude or depression. The reason that UTA is there is to produce graduates period. Campus Life doesnt exist. WHY? Because within 20-30 mins there are the best bars, night clubs in the country! What ever you are into, Canned Music, Country, Metal Live or Canned, what ever your little heart desires for entertainment circles your campus and stupid click college prep bars just can not compete. Why would they and why would they even try? So, to come to this school and have a good time at the parties you need to be social. You cant be shy or a stick you will get passed by quickly. The same as you would at any other school. Grit your teeth, swallow your pride if you have no friends or you are shy force yourself to join a frat or club. Then, you have paid for friends that may become real friends, you have a group to work with, you may have mass transportation and if lucky for the real reason you are there a test bank. Or at least an elder frat person that has taken that class or that prof and knows how to pull you through that class. Party hardy is NTSU or use to be 10 on the top 10 at Playboy. It was when I was there. UTA WHO? No Party ranking. Again, within 20-30 mins the best party spots in the country including any sport that thrills you for the pros. And, well the college home team football? UTA never had a decent team of anything. Maybe women's volleyball. Basenball maybe. You want to experience the home coming football games? Go to a local school like SMU, NTSU, TCU and hang around. Or, heck spend 3.5 times the cost for your loan or burden on your parents and have a great time. One that you or your parents are paying for. Otherwise, be smart go to UTA.

Question
As previous posts stated, this is an excellentAverageOther
As previous posts stated, this is an excellent U for nursing and arch. students. maybe one of the best in TX. I certainly thought so when I was a nursing major. But once I changed my major I was unimpressed with what the school had to offer.

IF you are into becoming a leader this is a perfect place! You have the op. to immediately lead people. as a sophomore I was on the executive board of a major campus organization. I've learned a lot.

THE PEOPLE: It was difficult for me to find friends. I am shy but by becoming a student leader, gave me more exposure to more people. I kind of gave up on looking for friends and became more comfortable with being by myself, speaking randomly to the many people I work/ live with. My room mate and I shared a special bond.

I stayed in a dorm 2 years. Highly suggest it.
SMART KIDS: IF you want a challenge PLEASE PLEASE join the honor's college! You can conduct your own research. There are many bright students and you only need a 3.2 to get in. possibilities to stand out as a student are endless because unfortunately many students are not going to go the extra mile.

**Why I'm transfering: I'm no longer a nursing major. I found the campus somewhat depressing, as many students transfered to uta because their grades fell. AND I wanted a bigger/true(er) college experience. as many students are commuters and seem a little scared to talk to one another (perhaps I'm bias b/c I am shy) I like to play with people and I had a few joking buddies. so that was positive. Overall I got a great opp. at UTA and look forward to my next U.

Question
WORST advisors ever!BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
WORST advisors ever! The students are just a number to the faculty. Dont even think about a proffesor going out of their way to help a student in need. Last but not least, 130 hours later I was told I would graduate...applied for graduation...paid all fees...bought ring...sent out invitations...later to find out that the Business school's advising department had made an error, (many errors being is that a year in advance and multiple advisors later we started planning for graduation)informing me that I will need to complete another accounting elective to graduate!!!...needless to say it is harder than you think to knock out a class in a month...nevertheless I have yet to graduate! For the record I know of atleast three more people that this has happened to. I have yet to hear a response to various e-mails sent to all levels of faculty regarding how I feel about this issue. Don't waste your time at this so called school. You will be better off at a community college! Spend your money elsewhere.
