Positive Negative Neutral Advice
When I was in computer science my academicNot so brightBiology
When I was in computer science my academic advisor spoke to me condescendingly. When I switched to a biology major and was forced to see my advisor for a hold, he gave me no help and when I pushed him for his helpful opinion about a class I needed to take in the summer he basically told me to just sit and wait and hope the class is available. I e-mailed another university who actually provided me with a helpful alternative. The fact that I had to go to a different school to get help, just demonstrated how ill-informed they are. Also, financial aid gave me two different answers to the same questions which then cost me my financial aid. I was not happy.

Question
Do an extensive research before you rush intoNot so brightNursing
Do an extensive research before you rush into enrolling for their AOBSN for"15 months" . this is the length just of their nursing program before that you will need another 70 credit hours. The advisers will NOT tell you all the truth about being accepted in the program. Many people with great GPA stay on a wait list for years, because preference for acceptance is given to people who are employed by the hospitals they work with. This means you might have higher scores and be wait-listed , and somebody who works art time in one of the hospitals, even as a cook let s say, with lower scores will get in front of you!

Question
I graduated w/an ADN in 2012.Quite BrightNursing
I graduated w/an ADN in 2012. Had a friend that loved UTA so I got into the online program. First problem: courses are outsourced to a company that uses Coaches for your main interaction. They are responsive to emails in 24 hours but not helpful. Often don't know the course or assignments. Nearly every coach interaction I had over 11 classes was a waste of time.

Second problem: I had to spend $1,000 taking Texas History and Texas politics due to an old Depression-era law. Required of *every* student. I live in Georgia; total waste of my time and money.

Third problem: They told me it would cost about $10-11,000. Actual cost for me: about $17,000. Big difference!

Fourth problem, and the one that prompted my review: I registered for the final course. Yea! The day it started, Student Accounts dropped me for non-payment. I had contacted them 3 weeks before to see when my load would disburse and they didn't know. Just told me to watch my email. So they sent me an email that I owed a little more than my loan covered *two business days* before they dropped me! Really, two business days notice? One of those days I was gone to work for 14 hours. And what online student checks school email every two days anyway?

Now I have to wait three months to take my final class! Bottom line: I regret going to UTA for my BSN.
