Question
I have been at UT for 2 semestersBrightBiology
I have been at UT for 2 semesters now and I can honestly say I'm having the time of my life. I went Greek by joining a Panhellenic Sorority with a house right on University Avenue in front of the tower and it has been a wonderful experience. UT provides everything a student can possibly ask for: 24-hour access to study areas and libraries all over campus, available gyms, pools, and sports courts, a buzzing social scene centered in the heart of Austin, countless opportunities to get involved both with the university and without, amazing athletic programs frequently seated amongst the best in the country, and academic programs to top even all of that. Not to mention the top-notch Greek community I mentioned earlier! School pride is simply oozing out of everyone at UT, and not in the arrogant way that it unfortunately has a reputation for. You just can't beat the beautiful weather, southern friendly-charm, and campus love centered around UT Austin. HOOK 'EM HORNS!

Question
One of the best things about UT isQuite BrightChemistry
One of the best things about UT is its size. You have so many different people with every kind of major that you can literally meet a new person every day. This is great for socializing and making friends. With so many students, this also allows you to meet a lot of different professors who are generally very good in their fields(besides the occasional nutcase).

However, the size of UT can also be a big problem if you aren't ready for it. At first when you come to UT, it does feel like you are more a number than a name. It's a big step between a small high school where your teachers know you to a university with over 40,000 students and freshman chem classes that can have hundreds of students. Also, unless you are really talkative person or have a very distinct personality, don't be mad if takes your professors(especially freshman professors) at least a few times to remember your name or face.

Everything else is pretty much ok. The dorms are average, food is average. The city of Austin always has something going on. Plus, the academics are very good as well, especially in the engineering department. Basically, UT is just like most public universities. The only major difference is the additional 20,000 students which can be an advantage or disadvantage depended on your personality.
