Positive Negative Neutral Advice
JMU is amazing.BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
JMU is amazing. Everyone who writes negative comments about it and its students have not taken the initiative to experience the school. If you want everyone to come to you and make your life perfect, it probably is not going to happen. However, if you decide to be outgoing and get involved with different aspects of student life than you will have an unparalleled college experience. Work hard, become apart of the JMU community, party hard, and this school will be the best 4-5 years of your life.

Question
JMU is a great university. Not so brightPolitical Science
JMU is a great university. The faculty are very helpful and approachable in almost any subject. I have heard some horror stories from my friends about profesors who can't speak English though. Despite this, they seem to manage well.

The people at JMU are usually very nice and approachable. You have your share of stuck up people who think they're God's gift to the world but there are people like that at every school. There are definetly more girls than guys but it seems to be evening out somehow(which dissapoints me because I'm a guy).

The party scene is not as good as it used to be. Ever since springfest last year President Rose asked the cops to crack down and they have been bigtime. From what I heard, before the whole sringfest debacle people could take the drunk bus to any off campus housing area/apartment complex and find a party with ease, even if they didnt know anyone there. Now, parties are usually private and much smaller and you either need to know the person having it or know someone who knows someone who will let you in. If you can get into a party then its really really fun. I know college isn't all about partying but if I put in my hours during the week I want to have fun on the weekends, not live in Nazi Germany with cops literally EVERYWHERE. For the most part JMU is very safe and there is little crime. But that number is starting to go up recently(I'm not talking about alcohol-related citations). I think the police should be more focused on keeping people safe from the rising crime rate rather than busting parties. If you are looking for big great parties every weekend(or everyday if ur into that) don't come to JMU. Hopefully this bullS#!^ that President Rose brought about to save his own ass will eventually end(preferably next year). The football games are fun too, especially with the new stadium. However, the crackdown on fun spills over to football too. TAILGATING OF ANY KIND IS PRETTY MUCH PROHIBITED NOW. Unless you want to pay but people, even people over the age of 21, can and will recieve a citation for drinking.

Question
I have only attendedAverageAccounting
I have only attended JMU for 2 months now and I am a freshmen. I am shocked with all the negative facts, yes drinking is a big part of social life here but there are many ways to have sober fun. Also, students here are very friendly and are not arrogant.
