JMU is a nice school if you areAverageEducation
JMU is a nice school if you are from a small town or came here with friends. I am an out of state student and everyone already had their group of friends on the first day. You will also be very bored if you grew up by a city or a populated suburb, as there is nothing around here. There is no town or clubs to hang out around. If you can go to house parties everyday for the rest of your college career, then this school has the social life for you. That being said, JMU has good academics and i have found my classes to be interesting for the most part. The majority of my teachers were helpful and friendly. The students are also very nice for the most part, but yes its true there are definately more girls than guys at this school. Overall a decent school if the surrounding area and atmosphere here are something you can deal with.

Question
JMU is great BUT beware of Harrisonburg Police.Quite BrightAccounting
JMU is great BUT beware of Harrisonburg Police. The new thing is they are pulling over cars (lots of cars), ticketing the sober drivers for some traffic violation and breathalyzing every passenger in the car. If anyone in the car under 21 blows ANYTHING over a 0.0, they are ticketed and receive a strike from JMU.

I love this school but will not encourage anyone to go here and be subjected to this type of activity. I am not condoning drinking and driving but in a situation where you have a sober driver, and the passengers in the car are not sick, violent, destructive, police should not be breathalyzing passengers unless warranted.

Question
I am absolutely in love with James MadisonBrightEducation
I am absolutely in love with James Madison University. I love the people and the atmosphere here. The teaching staff is great and the course work is challenging but managable. Coming here was the best decision I ever made and would definately make the decision again. I have made life long friends and could hold off on graduating. Everyone loves their dormlife and most everyone wants to be here. The first snow of the season was amazing and there was a huge snowball fight on the quad. And my friends and I take a billion pictures in front of james maddy. Even if you hate purple and gold you will bleed it after about a week here. James Madison is THE university of VA!!
