I absolutely love the Psychology Department.Quite BrightPsychology
I absolutely love the Psychology Department. All of the professors are extremely helpful. They really love their field and enjoy sharing it with students. I wish there was more a variety in the language department. They offer french spanish and german but german is always cancelled due to lack of interest. Marymount puts a lot of emphasis on internships and preparing for life after college. That is really helpful. The career center does mock interviews to get you prepared for job interviews. They also have tons of connections in the DC area for internships. Marymount is a small school, its not really a place where you can skip class all the time and no one notices, so if you are looking to lose yourself in mass of students this really isn't the place for you. By the same token, because its a small school there are no fraternities or sororities or mega big social events. There is a social life but not as active as a big school, though I feel like being so close to DC makes up for that.

Question
Attending Marymount University was most certainly one ofBrightCommunications
Attending Marymount University was most certainly one of the best choices I have made in my journey of higher education. I have had some many amazing experiences while attending Marymount that I am sure I would have not received at any other schools that were on my list.

Faculty/Staff - The faculty and staff on Marymount's campus are extremely friendly, not only speaking to you constantly but knowing you by name and inquiring about your well being. I remember one time I was extremely ill and had to go home for a few weeks and my professors were extremely helpful and understanding, and wishing me the best in my health and informing me to drink lots of water.

Student Life - College would not be college if you did not get involved on campus, and I have definitely taken advantage of all that Marymount has to offer for students. I have held officer positions in several clubs like our Black Student Alliance and Fashion Club. There are mutlipe things to do during the week like attending Open Mic night on Wednesday's in Bernie's [one of our dining halls] and catching some awesome movies on Tuesday and Thursdays. During the weekend, besides hitting the books for a little bit, I room hop around campus and visit my friends and watch movies, and certain clubs host dance parties on campus and bring in a DJ, so we can get our dance on *raises roof*

Question
I understand that majority of the comments onAverage
I understand that majority of the comments on this site is predominantly negative. So I thought I should share my rather balanced opinion... The facilities aren't very impressive, but it has been showing improvement over the past few years, and it looks like that the progress will continue. Students who do seem to leave MU after their first year (due to academics)seem to leave because they are not patient enough to experience academics further than intro courses. In terms of the people at MU, I'd say its similar to anywhere else, you'll see friendly, interesting, boring, snooty, all sorts of people both among teaching faculty and student population. but because the university is smaller in size, majority of the professors and students are rather friendly compared to other bigger colleges i've been to. I've been commuting to Marymount classes for 4 years and I've loved it. That is not because I get entertained by immaturity or 0 social life as some others said previously, but because I was able to start relationships with people on campus, unlike some people who seem to leave the campus because they don't like it. If you're looking for a big college campus that you grew up watching on TV, and wish to be a number in the auditorium, rather than a name in the class room, Marymount University is probably not for you.
