the people: honestly? i have never met so many rude people in my life. never in my life have i felt soo out of place than i ever have at marymount. usually when you walk by people, there is eye contact with a smile and a hello. not here! everyone either ignores you or gives you some sort of mean look. most are stuck up rich kids who think they're better than everyone. the girls are whores and the straight guys think they're hot stuff.
social life: does not exist. it sucks to have to leave your school and go have fun somewhere else. the only real parties that happen are at the lacrosse houses around the area but those are even awful. some drinking games will go on in the dorms but those RA's mean buisness. They WILL get you in trouble and bring you down no doubt about it. I did however get lucky and got the most laid back RA last night and i miss her so.
clubs/sports: i joined a few clubs on campus and either they met once or twice the whole entire year or did not meet at all which was totally a bummer. no body goes to athletic events unless its the girls lacrosse team drunk cheering for one of the boys they are planning to screw next to add on to their long list. marymount doesnt even have an official size soccer/lacrosee field! SERIOSULY? the girls basketball team though, i wish they got more recognition. they are the only thing marymount has going for them.i would not advise anyone to attend this university unless they want to live through high school one more time.
-Basics-
First off, this is a private university. The bulk of the finances used here are derived from donations and fees. Because this university can afford so much, they can only do so much. Much of the dorm rooms here are average at best. Many of the rooms clearly look dated and a little grimy but still livable. Some dorms have had insect/rodent problems in the past but hasn't been a major issue. Many of the bathrooms here are in pretty decent shape; the only exception will come from the Berg Hall bathrooms which are always a mess. Often times people shave their body hairs in the sink (Berg) and there have been times when people have left underpants in the bathrooms and one occasion in which someone put fecal matter on the floor. Berg is the only potential concern in this case. The food here is hit and miss; the staff can be friendly and helpful but around 50% of the cooks do not even speak sufficient English. The food is sometimes inediable while tasty the other times. The cooks often have a tendency to be cheapt with the meals. One time, they make something called "Turkey with Bruscetta" in which they de-skinned a chicken tnder, put halved grape tomatoes and basil on top of the tender. Speaks for itself.
-Social Life-
The social life is a hit or miss as well. It should be first noted that half of the people that go here are commuters thus do not really apply themselves socially here (not too much anyway). It should also be noted that if you want a probable chance of having a sufficient social life, you must either join an athletics team (mainly basketball, swimming and/or lacrosse) or find a nich (not a group) to be a part of. School-sponsered events do occur on campus but they mostly occur during either noon time and/or night time (mainly as early as 9pm). If have a night job at night and or are busy during the day with classes/studying, this can be a problem. Virtually no school-sponsered events occur during the weekends with the exception of some sports games either on or near campus. Parties do go on on.off campus. Many people do go to the off-campus parties but many times they either get busted (often) or take too much traveling time. Either way, off campus parties are supirior to on-campus parties which are hit or misses. Many times, there are only drinking games on-campus, no music or food. If your religious, try joining campus ministry, you will find some interesting people there. Overall, very avergae social life here.
-Academics-
The academic programs here are pretty darn good. The more popular programs consist of Psychology, Criminal Justice and Graphic/Fashion Design. You do not even need foreign language to finish school here! The teachers here do their job well enough. Overall, it is up to you but I found this place to be very average. The people here are not very open-minded, niches seem to be a fad, it is expensive (at LEAST $15,000 a year)and many people do not even try to do anything off campus too often.
