I went to UVM because it had aQuite BrightNatural Resources
I went to UVM because it had a renowned environmental program and also I thought it would have a significant counterculture presence of hippies and outdoorsy folk(Burlington after all gave birth to Phish).

What I discovered was that hipsters had replaced hippies, Dubstep had replaced Phish, and although lots of people are into the outdoors it's hard to get out of Burlington and go hiking unless you're lucky enough to have a car or know people with a car.

Also, it's cold as balls for most of the academic year and if you don't ski, like me, then you will have virtually nothing to do when it's cold and snowy and the majority of the rich white preppy hipsters have gone skiing.

So basically, don't come here expecting hippies and Nature-loving friendly people. Those days are gone. Also diversity is terrible. Most folks are rich white kids from Jersey, New York or New England who basically consider the university a 4 year ski opportunity. By the way, it's REALLY expensive, since the state of Vermont only has 600 thousand people, it gets no money from the government and is therefore more of a private university than public.

Question
Overall, I LOVE it at UVM.Quite BrightPreMed and Medical
Overall, I LOVE it at UVM. I wouldn't pick any other college and I would pick UVM anytime over anywhere else. I got into George Washington, William and Mary, Wake Forest, Providence, Gettysburg, and Elon but UVM was my best fit. Students are great: friendly, helpful, and outgoing.

Other things to rate/be aware of:

Food in Points places A+
Food in Unlimited Halls B-
Come here if you like winter, snow, and cold. This isn't Miami and you have to realize that. I LOVE SKIING/SNOW/WINTER so it fits well.

I felt I'd be a number, but I am an individual student here, not a number.
Class sizes for a freshman are much smaller than I thought for a large public U. My first classes were 18, 20, 21, 125, and 140.

Question
Pros: amazing area, free city buses, montreal isAverageEngineering Department
Pros: amazing area, free city buses, montreal is an hour and a half away, pretty views, many different clubs, food is okay *NOT great*, a lot of different parties to go to on weekends. many different ski/board peaks within 40 minutes. a couple music venues, bars, and clubs. Campus shuttles. library is nicecons: academics are mediocre, students tend to be cold unless you are exactly like them, lack of diversity, the airport is expensive, the train is expensive and usually inconvenient, and greyhound can mess up your ticket order and make you pay for a new one. also- you get fined a lot for so many different acts of vandalism that random drunk kids have done, parties sometimes get too crazy, professors can be condescending, after first 3 weeks people stop trying to be nice and make friends, res life will probably not help you if you have problems with roomates/suitemates. library is usually crowded and loud, even on quiet floors. some girl was murdered a few years ago, which makes it questionable when I see girls walk around alone.
