I understand why some people don't love theQuite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
I understand why some people don't love the school. After all, it is true that they squeeze as much money out of you as possible and there isn't a lot to do when it is -20 degrees. However, many many school try to get money from their students. College is half learning institution and half business and students need to understand that. Personally, I love UVM. The people are really sweet and love inviting you to join them in conversations. Yes, there are a lot of drugs, but if you don't want any there is absolutely no pressure. And there is a lot to do on the weekends, it's just that most students do not take advantage of the many activities offered. This may also be due to the fact that these events are not well advertised, but it is understandably difficult to do so in a school this size. There are a lot of hipees, there is no denying that. But there are just as many regular people. The teachers vary depending on the size and topic of the classes. I'm a Theater Major, and because of that, my classes generally range from 10-25 people. There are many lecture classes, but you choose your own schedule. As I applied to this school, I also applied to many Theater Conservatories. Although I may not be as prepared as those students at Boston Conservatory for example, I love the school so much that I wouldn't trade it for the world. UVM is the place to be yourself and just have fun. You choose your own life there.

Question
I just finished my first year at UVMQuite BrightCommunications
I just finished my first year at UVM and I will not be returning in the fall. From my personal experience, the classes are very easy-not even close to being as challenging as my high school classes. The school is extremely overpriced and the school will relentlessly attempt to take money from you (or your parents' pockets). Overall the people were very cliquey, rude and closed-minded. I'm from a very urban suburb of Chicago and am use to seeing all different types of people on a daily basis, which definitely does not occur at UVM. Pretentious hippies is how I would describe the majority of students. I am extremely happy to get out of VT and back into a big city.

Question
There are too many goddamn hippies here. Not so bright
There are too many goddamn hippies here. You can't walk around the campus without tripping over a hippie circle filled with hippies banging on bongo drums and smoking joints, filled with weed which they most likely grew in their dorms. There is beautiful scenery, but that tells the hippies that their trips will be even better. Acid is everywhere. I do not do drugs so I was not too into this whole deal. Too many pot smoking, acid poppin hippie bitches who have sex in the street.
