Having just started an PhD program, I amEnglish
Having just started an PhD program, I am very thankful to UVM. Students not only recieve a good education, but also varied perspectives on "the good life." I would definitely recommend that students who are interested in learning both in an academic setting and in a community attend UVM. The cultural scene on campus and in Burlington can not be matched anywhere else- if you take advantage of it.

First semester is hard, especially if you're majoring in a science. If you stick it out and really try, you can do it. Also, joining a club is a great way to meet upperclassmen and people outside of those you live with on your floor. (Harris/Millis is the best freshman dorm. Make every effort to live there)

The campus is spread out, but definitely worth it. There are a few professors who are rather self-absorbed and arrogant bu the majority are helpful, once you get to the smaller class sizes. The town is beautiful and very relaxing. Vermonters tend to be fun and laid back. You don't worry about your attire, it's too cold to look good. The summers are awesome!
