I was surprised by how hard it was to make good friends here. The kids are very cliquey and mostly all fit a stereotype: the stoner, the jock, the hippie....

UVM is also known to be a party school, but the parties here are horrible. There are only maybe 2-5 per weekend night, but they are crowded to the point of suffocation, sweaty, and incredibly sleezy and disgusting. Do not attend this university if you are looking for an intellectual atmosphere. Students here are not interested in learning for learning's sake.

It's not all that bad of a place.AverageChemistry
It's not all that bad of a place. Not quite the place to go if your majoring in a science...it's really a liberal arts institution. Office of Residental is really pathetic. Also, the staff in the Arts and Science office is unhelpful, rude, aprupt, and contratdicory. Thumbs up to College of Mathematics and Engineering, Allied Health, and Education. Overall, the experience leaves much to be desired. Surrounding area is beautiful. You just have to make sure you don't fall between the adminsitrative cracks. At UVM, your identity your not a number...your a barcode.

Question
UVM talks a whole lot about diversity, butQuite BrightUndecided
UVM talks a whole lot about diversity, but there isn't much to be found here, if that's what you are looking for. It's a beautiful campus, it's got great kids, everyone is very kind, and if you like to ski or snowboard, it's awesome. But it really isn't worth the money for out of staters; you don't really see where your $20K+ per year goes. I'm transferring.
