I'm a non-traditional student (26), so I don'tNot so brightFinance
I'm a non-traditional student (26), so I don't really focus too much on the social scene of the school, however, all else has been GREAT. So far, it has been everything I have hoped for. I'm an a dual major in both accounting and finance, and both programs have been outstanding. The accounting section is MUCH more difficult, as the exam questions are essentially ripped off the current CPA exam. This is great, but since I plan on getting my graduate degree in finance, this is to counter and compliment my main focus.

This isn't to say the finance department is easy or inadequate by any means. One of the primary professors wrote one of the quintessential textbooks on the subject, and is very well published. If you have a chance, be sure to enter the portfolio management class as well. This is a selective class taught by the dean, allowing you to create a stock portfolio with a team of your peers. This is good, but the networking with the dean is invaluable. I had an opportunity to go to Denver University, UC Boulder, or Northwestern and chose Gonzaga. I'm REALLY happy with the decision.

Question
This school is great for people that likeBrightPolitical Science
This school is great for people that like to pray, study, and stay on campus. Since it boasts about being ranked number 3 best in the West, I thought my classes would be challenging. I NEVER had homework. Thats fine, except that I was paying $810 per credit. My Philosophy final exam took me 20 minutes, and I got an A on it, and in the class. Even though I took the max amount of credits, I never had homework. I was very disappointed with the levels of academics. I had gone to private Catholic schools before, but I cannot say that there is much spirituality here. A lot of religion though. The students and faculty are extremely nice. However, most are privileged and wealthy and it is difficult to relate to people that live in a bubble. Few of the students seemed to have any real life experience. Although there are many clubs on campus, their activities are sporadic and the connections made between members are superficial. Gonzaga is also located adjacent to the Logan neighborhood, which has high crime rates. There is a Safeway within walking distance, as well as a mall, but if you prefer not to spend $150 dollars on jeans every weekend, it gets old. Other than that, there is not a lot to do. Yet, most of the students seem content to sit in their dorms all the time. Aside from everyone being so friendly, the campus is beautiful. One good point, but a pretty picture isn't everything.

Question
Well...I recently finished my freshman year at Gonzaga,AveragePsychology
Well...I recently finished my freshman year at Gonzaga, and it was absolutely the best year! I can't imagine going anywhere else, or ever leaving this amazing school. I was a little worried when i came to Gonzaga that people would be too close minded and snobby for me here, but it's really not like that...I went to public school all my life and I fit in just fine at Gonzaga.

The classes are interesting (for the most part) and teachers really do want to help you do your best. If your having trouble you can go to office hours and teachers will love to help you.

The dorms here arent the most modern..but they're a lot of fun, i got along great with the people in my hall and it's really easy to meet people and find people you click with.

Parties aren't difficult to find, or get into (if your a girl) and people usually just want to have fun, there isn't a lot of fighting or drama. I do want to say though, i don't think Gonzaga is right for everyone..it has a very strong sense of community, everyone likes basketball, everyone has school spirit, and it's such a small school that if you don't like a lot of the people here, you arent't going to like the school.
