I am a white female from a rural area in the state of Maryland. My graduating GPA was 4.35 weighted and 3.65 unweighted (I slacked off until my senior year; don't do that). I participated in sports, held team captain position, was a member of the National Honor Society, and worked a part-time job as well as volunteered at a hospital and the library. I had a not the greatest SAT of like 1960 (I didn't use it) and a ACT of 31. I also took the SAT subjects of Math 2 and Biology (the cellular one). I got a 540 in Math and a 670 in Bio. I applied as a Biochemistry major and for the honors program and I got into both.
To be honest, the honors program is not that great. It's a ton of work for a possibility of getting an honors degree. You need to graduate with a 3.400 GPA and to take specific courses in order to graduate with an honors degree. Making sure you fit all of the requirements every semester is such a pain in the a$$.
As long as you have good grades (about a B average), decent test scores (around 1700 or 23) and extracurriculars, you should get in no problem. I would recommend taking as many APs as you can in high school. If you score high enough on them, you will get some form of credit for them, with some exceptions, and you will get a better spot for registering for classes during the year. More credits= better registering spot.

UD has been getting a lot of criticism lately for their divirsity so in the coming years it MAY (i am certainly no expert) be harder for caucasians to get in as opposed to minorities

Since this is a large and impersonal school, you need to make sure that you have good numbers across the board. Or better yet, try for the honors program, where you will have smaller classes, more respect and connections with better professors, and greater access to unique opportunities.
