If you are considering going to Georgetown University, I strongly urge you to reconsider, it is vastly over rated, although the ratings do keep dropping year after year, so it's closely approaching where it should be. Washington DC is a ghetto which shuts down at night, and you dare not venture out for risk of getting mugged and shot. Most of the students wouldn't venture out anyway, and prefer to stay on campus weekend after weekend after weekend, which can render your social life DOA. The students are arrogant about the fact that they go to Georgetown, when it doesn't really mean anything and isn't that great of a school. Most of them are just used to being the top of their class at their 3rd rate high school in the middle of farm country USA, and think they are god's gift to the world. reality check, you're not that smart otherwise you would have gotten in some place better! and for such an "internationally minded" school, most of them are extremely closed minded and completely unaware of the world outside of the United States, many of whom have never traveled abroad. Most of the faculty, with a few exceptions few and far between, are mediocre at best. they do little to help you and just shove you off on a TA for any extra help that may be necessary. furthermore many of them seem to be blatanly incompetant if not in the content of the class, then how to actually teach the content. Basically, if you wanna blow the cash, go to a better school, and if you got into a good state school, and are debating between the 2, go to the state school, cuz georgetown sucks and is a waste of money!!!
