The main campus is in Allendale, which is a small town with too many policemen and not enough crimes. Luckily there are free bus rides to the downtown Grand Rapids campus where there is a much better night life--for such a conservative area. There are a fair amount of opportunities to get involved in organizations and groups--more so than most larger universities. Just don't expect any radical movements to spring up in this place. We're talking Averageland, USA here. There are also a lot of women here, which is always a plus for the fellas.
