Georgetown wasn't my first choice when I got in, primarily because of the price tag and a student body that seemed to lack diversity. I grew up in inner-city New York, and wondered how I could possibly feel at home in a place where everybody looked alike. I was wrong! There is plenty of diversity here, in terms of backgrounds, interests etc. There are activists, intellectuals, jocks and everything in between. Sure, there are the proverbial "rich and snobby" kids, but the vast majority are genuinely good-hearted and service-oriented. The many international students bring a unique pizazz and vitality to campus. The professors are incredibly nurturing. (Don't graduate before you take a class with a Jesuit!) My complaints? I worry about the less-than-stellar endowment. And DOPS (campus cops) are worthless in the face of too many boozy weekend soirees. That having been said, Georgetown is of Ivy League calibre and reputation, a place where you will work hard and do well, without killing yourself. If you're one of the few in the world privileged enough to gain admission - go. All other collegiate experiences pale in comparison to the Georgetown University experience.
