I love the education I am getting at Boston College, I am surrounded (for the mopst part, once you get past the intro courses) by interesting and intelligent people who I am able to compete with on an equal level. The professors provide lots of challenging exercises and the work load is challenging enough to make me want/need to go to class but not want to kill myself. I know I will come out a much smarter person at the end of these four years. That being said... I despise Boston College in its institutional capacities and social atmosphere. Being surrounded by upper class, snooty, country club raised, arrogant, beer guzzling (on a wednesday afternoon) suck-ups is not the greatest environment. My first year was plagued by these people. I myself enjoy having a good time, etc etc... but not like this. If you are a. a stuck up barbie doll, b. a jock who cheated his way through high school or c. have been nicknamed Frank the Tank at any point in your life.... you will love it here. If those things don't appeal to you, then I would suggest looking for a different school. I must give it a little credit though, now going into my junior year I find that the campus is a little more spread out. There are a lot of people who feel the same way I do, and would prefer to go see an indie flick and get some cofee on a thursday night rather than cook up some jello shots. I would say the campus is split pretty much 65% on the jock-persuasion to about 35% of a more intellectual/laid back crowd. It is definately an adjustment though... so just bear that in mind.
