Major: (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred to Pratt as a junior. Unfortuately, I transferred from a Big 10 school with no art background and had start over, pretty much as a freshman. I wont name where I went before but US News ranks it top 25, so I figured Pratt would be alot easier in terms of work load. I was in for the biggest shock ever, Pratt kicked my ass into shape. The workload in foundations could even be described as ridiculous at some points. But by the end of the semester I was used to it and I think it really paid off in terms of pushing me further as an artist. Only go to Pratt if you are interested in learning to work hard and are commited to art. You have to be willing to give up alot at Pratt but it will be rewarding. THe social scene was pretty pitiful coming from a big university, but you often have so much homework that it doesnt really matter. And yes their were rats in the dorms, our fridge and range looked like it hadn't been replaced since 1979 and at one point the cieling above our shower crumbled from a leak upstairs. But it was fun :) It added to the suffering artist character that Pratt instills in you. So my advice would be to go to Pratt if you can rough it. If your looking for an easy time, lots of parties, and not ever having to live in a triple and do your own dishes, go elsewhere. I did transfer one more time to a big school in the east because I wanted a minor in management, had I not I probably would have stayed at Pratt. I've been to alot of places and used students review in beginning my process of decisions, so feel free to ask me any questions about what the school is actually like. None of that how hard is to get in crap please.
