A good school with a very incompetent administration. One of the best fine arts schools in the world - it really is too bad they do not profess this publically. Seems to be something in the character of the place about keeping it egalitarian. However, I don't know if I would recommend this school - the faculty are some of the best working artists today. The school has few tenured faculty and a tiny library. Upside: lots of different visiting faculty, good collection of *very* expensive art books. Lazy and incompetent billing and registrar, mean-sprited deans with personal grudges against faculty and students can make this a difficult place. Especially at more than $30,000 a year. Liebowitz, Adams, Rothko, Still, Lange, Evans, Deibenkorn, Brown, Acker all graduated or taught from or at this school - was it worth it? I'm not sure. Probably not for those who are going to college in order to get a good job - this is education without a destination.
