In general, the reputation that Georgetown has is completely undeserved. Really, the educational program, at least in the School of Foreign Service, is haphazardly designed, with a considerable bulk of totally uninteresting foundational courses that must be covered such as International Trade, Finance blah blah blah... These courses must be covered by all students, whether your degree is SUPPOSED to be culture based or whether you are indeed at Georgetown to be a political cog in the system, which infact is the case for many of the extremely rich, overprivileged and truly stupid international and American students which attend this school. Indeed, there is a rather dreadful blend of 'Eurotrash' with what are known as 'whitehats,' eg largely provincial frat boy varieties. The two groups seldom mingle. All in all, NOT a personal, engaging, even worthwhile education, certainly not for the money. I graduated in 2002 with highest honors since regurgitating the mindless material required of me was really no problem... but what a waste of time. Please dont be lured by the aura of the big name!
