I am a girl who was recruit to play a sport at Georgetown, and came with an open mind. My experience playing for this woman broke my spirit and made me detest anything associated with Georgetown. I could not leave the place fast enough. I left my sport and decided to return as a regular student. When I returned to Georgetown, in hopes of making friends, it appeared to me that everyone had already found their special friends. I learned the hard way that in order to make friends at Georgetown, one must be proactive. You have to make the first initial efforts to make friends at Georgetown. At first people may seem closed; however, they are quite friendly once you get to know them. My second year turned my negative first year experience into a more neutral one. The one thing that detracts from the experience is the social scene, especially the parties. If you enjoy keggers on a nightly basis in tiny townhouses - then Gtown is the place for you! Until you are 21, it may prove difficult to truly enjoy Georgetown and DC. Further the education I have received from Georgetown has been truly rewarding. Every class, minus one, I have truly enjoyed. The work is challenging but well worth it. Each class truly helps contribute and shapes the students views and opinions. so my advice is to take advantage of the initial weeks to get to know everyone in your year and enjoy your classes!
