I love Smith. The grounds are beautiful, my professors have been amazing and quirky, the classes interesting, the town lively (but not too much so) and charming, my extracurriculars rewarding. But, like many others have said, it's really important to realize that Smith is not for everyone. If you're looking to meet guys (and seriously, college IS a golden oppertunity for such a thing) then attending Smith is going to make that harder. Not that the male half of the species is non-existant - plenty of guys come to Smith to take classes, and the busses to three campuses worth of testosterone are free - but you're going to have to work for it. The Smith collegiate social life is definitely not what it's portrayed to be in movies. I have been to keggers, but they're not exactly a dime a dozen. I'm equally as likely to spend a Saturday evening with a glass of wine, some friends, and Prarie Home Companion. And you had best be at least tolerant of queerness - not only is the school loud and proud, the surrounding community is also very queer. People are always worried about a bunch of women getting together and being bitchy. But lets face it - women tend to be their bitchiest over guys. It's true. Remove the guys from the equation, and you've got four years with some of the most amazing, intelligent, motivated women you're ever likely to meet, coupled with fabulous academics in a surprisingly non-competitive environment. Some days, I feel like I could do anything here.
