I love this campus!!! First of all, it has so many opportunities - on campus, off campus, online, or abroad. From the Education Abroad Center (I'm going to Africa next summer!) to the educational opportunities in every department, UC Davis has something for everyone! I know, I sound like a promotional pamphlet or a tour guide or something, but it's TOTALLY TRUE! As just the down-to-earth, motivated student that I am, UC Davis has been incredible, and I couldn't imagine getting the education or life experiences I have had without this campus. It feels comfortable and not cramped (well, with 5200 acres, what do you expect?), and there are trees and open spaces everywhere. This really helps me to relax and focus on my school rather than on feeling uncomfortable or pressured by my environment. UC Davis is a great school for the student who knows that a quality education is not about getting into the most highly ranked or prestigious academic institution, but about learning about yourself after moving away from home, being in an environment where you can grow academically and individually, and taking your education into your own hands and excelling instead of relying on the prestige of your school to land that job or get into that graduate school. A few downsides: it does get REALLY hot in the summer, but that's easy to fix with A/C and some fans. Also, you need to start looking for housing and signing leases pretty early, but it's nothing to freak out about: being prepared pretty much solves everything. I could go on and on, but come to campus and check it out for yourself! It was the best choice for me, and maybe it will be for you, too.
