Ok, so I searched and searched to find Pratt MWP listed, but to no avail. I don't know through first hand experience about Pratt in Brooklyn, and I am surprised no one has mentioned Pratt MWP yet. Pratt's sister school is very small and community oriented. This makes it wonderful. All of your teachers know your name as well as your style of art, which allows you to receive specific advice about improving your work. Classmates become your family; everyone generally cares about each other's well-being. It's so much better to live amongst fellow artists than "normal" people, because finding people who understand the way you think out in the "real world" is so rare. As a side note-the dorms are completely co-ed, and you can have opposite gender overnight guests. It makes maintaining longer distance relationships easier. Art history and English - the only academic classes required - have pretty low demands and are fairly easy to pass as long as you do the work and pay attention in class. Studios are open until 2:00am or longer throughout the week, so there's all the time in the world to work. The workload is quite intense, but since there really isn't anything to do anyway because there isn't much in the way of city life, there is always time to finish projects. For those looking for more rambunctious forms of entertainment, believe me, Pratt students still find ways to party. If you have the opportunity to participate in the overnight program at Pratt MWP, DO IT. It's the best way to find out if this school is right for you. It’s what made MY decision.
