Georgetown really is an amazing school. But it is what you make of it. You hear a lot about really preppy and arrogant students, and it's true, there are a lot of them here. However, just because someone pops their collar doesn't make them a bad person. Coming from a hippie town, I thought that anyone who wore polos must be arrogant and annoying, but at Gtown you can't judge anyone from the outside, because people will surprise you. They may have had parents n the peace corp in Africa as a child, or something like that. Sure diversity here isn't great, but you can get involved in clubs and groups where you get to meet many different people. There are all different sorts of people here, and if you try hard enough, you will find your groups. Just don't rush into thinking that you must conform to fit in. On the flip side, people here are really friendly. Even if you don't put all that much effort into constantly staying on top of fashion, you still have random conversations with people all of the time, everyone says hi to everyone that they know, and the size of the school means that pretty much no matter where you go you will know someone. The students are funny because they are such closet nerds. You'll see them trashed on Saturday night, but come Sunday they are holed up in the library. The social scene is pretty awesome, there are big parties (obviously as not as good as state schools but that's to be expected), small parties, and plenty of otehr activities that don't involve drinking. Gtown is in DC. Let me elaborate on that: GEORGETOWN IS IN WASHINGTON DC! There are so many opportunities in this city! It's amazing what you can get involved in here, and there are always new places to go and explore. Georgetown in perfect because it will aloow you to isolate yourself in a college campus if you want, but there's also a city right there. You have a choice in the matter, which is great, but I hope that everyone sees just what DC has to offer!! Also, I'm in the SFS and it's amazing! All of my classes are interesting and pertinent to IR (well, except for econ, which is not interesting, but I concede, is helpful for understanding IR)! I have learned so much in this school!! Also, one other note, the basketball team and their games are awesome. Gtown actually has school spirit, unlike some other schools, and trust me it's great!
