The Political Science Department is awful. The majority of the classes listed are never actually offered. This is extremely frustrating especially when you are trying to obtain a concentration in a certain field. Classes were rarely stimulating largely stemming from the professors' lack of interest in teaching. I had a small handful of really great TA's who essentially taught everything you needed to know in discussion sections. The department graduation was embarrassingly impersonal and anticlimactic. The speeches sounded recycled and the professors acted as if they knew none of the students. Rather than saying some profound closing statement, the lead professor simply mentioned that "refreshments are in the back" and then proceeded to walk off the stage. Everyone was very confused. If you want a real education at this institution, go into SMG or into the pre-med track. The religion department is AMAZING. Lots of quality professors who actually care. In general, most of the graduate programs are quality as well. But as a whole, I would not recommend going to BU at all - especially as an undergraduate. The school has no real identity or pride that students can revolve around. It consequently creates an all-versus-all atmosphere which can be quite scary as a freshman. And, speaking frankly as a california kid, east coast people are generally unfriendly and mean.
