Pomona College is a great place to go if you're looking for a small, personalized college experience. The faculty are great and there are few "bad" faculty members. You do find them, but for the most part they actually care about you as a person. The main downside of Pomona is that its a bubble and the inertia to escape it and go to LA is quite large. You end up just drinking the free beer they give you and going to the same old parties. Also, Claremont sucks. The village is not bad and there's a couple places I love in the village but the residents are really whack. They shut down parties and concerts at midnight that are ON CAMPUS for no reason. My band has gotten the cops called on them twice. Also, the music scene is lacking, not many people dedicate time to actually putting a band together. Having said that, if you go abroad and come back, you'll appreciate the Pomona College "incubator" even more. Senior year is great and everyone gets along and tries to live every moment like its our last. If you want to grow intellectually and don't mind being in a semi-fake place, this is a great palce.
